Government allocates €607m to improve roads

Although a slight decrease of €11m on last year’s allocation, the size of the package suggests the Government is intent on maintaining capital investment despite the economic downturn.

Approximately €310m of the package will be spent on pavement improvement and maintenance. Another €182m will go towards 316 specific road improvement projects. There will be €15m to improve access to isolated and depopulated areas, and €8.6m to address accident blackspots.
