Tax on homes still on the cards for Cowen

THE prospect of a new tax on homes remains on the cards after Taoiseach Brian Cowen refused to rule out such a measure yesterday.

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Mr Cowen said there was a “trick” to balancing new cutbacks with ways of generating income.

However, he refused to say what part a property tax would play in this.
