LABOUR moved to embarrass the Government last night by trying to force the long-delayed by-election in Dublin South.

Labour attempts to force by-election for Brennan’s seat

Seamus Brennan’s former seat has been vacant since the death of the ex-cabinet minister last July, but Labour is to break parliamentary procedure and move the writ for the contest itself.

Usually, this would fall to the party of the former TD, but Labour has accused Fianna Fáil of trying to put off the poll for as long as possible due to the unpopularity of the Government.
