60 sex offenders to be catered for in treatment centre

A NEW treatment regime for jailed sex offenders will cater for up to 60 prisoners per annum, a six-fold increase on the numbers catered for under the old treatment programme.

The new programme, which commenced this week, is part of an effort to get more sex offenders to engage in rehabilitation.

It replaces a programme, based at Arbour Hill prison, that catered for eight prisoners at a time over a period of 11 months.
