Ministers finalising public pay and services cuts

MINISTERS were today finalising where the axe would fall on public pay and services in order to slash another €2 billion from government spending.

Two days of cabinet horse-trading will see the Government finally setting out where the cuts will hit.

Nurses, teachers and other state employees are braced for targeting in the emergency cost-cutting exercise in the face of collapsing tax revenues and rising borrowing.
