Nearly 300 to go at Dublin Bus with 10% reduction in services

THE decision by Dublin Bus to cut 290 jobs and reduce services by 10% will leave the elderly, schoolchildren and the unemployed stranded in parts of the county and force commuters back into their cars, unions warned yesterday.

The Government — and in particular the Green Party — has been slammed for allowing the state-run bus company to take 120 buses from the roads in direct contrast to stated policy to stop motorists using their cars.

Further job losses are expected to be announced by Bus Eireann next month.
