Men have it easy, says Munster star dad

THERE’S no better man in a push, but when it comes to the real test rugby ace Alan Quinlan reckons women are tops.

Men have it easy, says Munster star dad

“Us men have it easy,” said the Ireland and Munster star who is no slouch in uneasy situations on the field of play.

He made the comment just after he had the joyous experience of being with his wife, top model Ruth Griffin, as she gave birth to a baby boy at Limerick Regional Maternity Hospital.

The back row forward, who lines out for Munster tonight in the big Heineken Cup game against Sale at Thomond Park, took the advantage when he rushed from the team rugby camp to witness the birth.

The baby weighted in at 7lb 14oz and both mother and son are doing well.

Alan, 34, said: “Us men have it easy, that’s all I’ll say. God be good to women. Giving birth is a tough experience, but it was so wonderful to be there.

“That was fantastic and we are overjoyed to have a healthy baby. I feel very lucky and privileged to have a lovely baby.”

Quinlan may be a safe pair of hands, but in the labour ward he was happy to leave the game plan to the doctors and nurses whom he thanked for the care given to Ruth and their newborn baby.

“They were all fantastic,” he said.

Meanwhile, it will be a busy weekend for Alan.

After tonight’s game he will be preparing to bring Ruth and baby Quinlan home to Castletroy on Sunday.

He said: “We haven’t yet decided on a name.”

Ruth is one of the country’s top models and did a lot of maternity wear photo shoots during her pregnancy.
