Woman, 72, dragged by car as she foils robbery

AN elderly woman is recovering after being allegedly dragged along a road by a car during an attempted robbery.

Three young women and two men were arrested shortly after the incident which began at a service station on the Model Farm Road in Cork city, where the 72-year-old women withdrew money from a cash machine at about 10.15am on Saturday.

As she drove towards Ballincollig, she became suspicious of the car behind her and pulled into the Chelmsford estate, about half a mile from the petrol station.
