The company’s official statement was a masterclass in concealment, employing the mind-boggling jargon of corporate speak to avoid any mention of even the word “job” — never mind “loss”.

“Manufacturing migration” is how management termed the axing of the Limerick jobs and their replacement with cheap Polish counterparts. According to their statement, Dell was “to migrate manufacturing operations from Ireland to Poland”.
