BRIAN COWEN ruled out making a personal pitch to Dell bosses in order to try and save thousands of threatened jobs in Limerick.

The Taoiseach rejected Fine Gael’s demand that he travel to Texas to plead for a rethink by Dell, as he insisted the Government was already doing all it could to influence the firm.

Asked if he thought a personal top level transatlantic intervention was on the cards, he said: “No, look we have put the business case to people, that’s what we do when people are conducting major re-organisations of companies,” he told RTÉ.
