CIÉ may cut routes and staff, says TD

DUBLIN BUS and Bus Éireann may have to cancel routes, withdraw buses and lay off workers to stay in business, Labour TD Tommy Broughan told the Dáil yesterday.

Mr Broughan said the cutbacks could involve the loss of 190 Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann routes and the withdrawal of 270 vehicles.

Up to 400 redundancies were also being considered by CIÉ in order to remain viable, said Mr Broughan.
