Opposition call for shoppers to be protected

THE Government has been urged not to ignore the rights of consumers in its effort to restore the image of pork products.

Opposition politicians said people had a right to refunds for contaminated stock and information on the future safety of pork products.

Fine Gael spokesman on agriculture Michael Creed said it was wrong of the Government to initially tell the public to dump pig meat without ensuring they also knew their rights.
