ROAD safety chiefs have warned parents of the dangers associated with mini-motorbikes, scooters and quad bikes.

Retailers, too, have been advised about supplying such vehicles to under-16s, with heavy fines and even prison terms likely to be handed down to those caught in the act.

Sales of mini-motorised vehicles are reported to be on the increase this month, in the run-up to Christmas, and they have become popular presents for teenagers and younger children in the past few years.
