ONE of the men on trial for murder in the Mahon area of Cork last year said he “probably lost it” and had never intended to kill the young man.

Jason Quinlan made the remarks during extensive questioning at the Bridewell Garda station, the transcript of which was read yesterday to the jury at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork. Quinlan, 29, of 11 Loughmahon Drive, Mahon, Cork, and John Brett, 25, of 26A Leitrim Street, Cork, both deny murdering Brian McKee, 24, at Ballinure Avenue, Mahon, Cork, on August 25 2007.

Inspector Declan O’Sullivan and Detective Garda John McDonagh questioned Quinlan and asked him, “What was your intention when you were coming after him with a knife?”
