Father gets 10 years for abusing daughters

A FATHER who carried out “gratuitous and sadistic” cruelty on two of his daughters as he sexually abused them throughout their childhood and raped one of them was jailed for ten years yesterday.

Mr Justice Paul Carney imposed the sentence on the 59-year-old Corkman who pleaded guilty to 12 sample counts of sexually assaulting two of his daughters, and one count of raping one of them, at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork.

Mr Justice Carney said he was taking into account the breach of trust by the accused in the violation of his daughters and their ages at the time of the sexual abuse. They were aged between six and eleven.
