Calls to reverse budget policy decisions

DISMAL financial projections will only get worse unless the Government reverses policy decisions announced in the budget, according to opposition parties.

Finance spokespeople outside the Government said a tax deficit of €7.5 billion so far this year had revealed an inability to grasp the extent of the financial crisis.

Fine Gael’s Richard Bruton said despite yesterday’s exchequer figures Brian Lenihan had not produced a strategy capable of balancing the budget.
