Gangland crime to be Garda priority

GANGLAND crime will again be top of the list of priorities for the gardaí in 2009.

Justice Minister Dermot Ahern announced he had approved the policing priorities for next year.

He said he had directed Garda commissioner Fachtna Murphy to target serious crime, particularly gun and drug-related crime. He said the force would continue its pursuit of gangland criminals.
