Prison treatment plan for sex offenders

THE Prison Service will roll out a range of treatment measures for sex offenders in January, it has been confirmed.

The announcement comes after Fine Gael’s Alan Shatter launched a stinging attack on the authorities following the conviction of a man on Monday for his third sex offence since 2000.

The broadside from Mr Shatter, the party’s spokes-man on children, included strong criticism of the Government’s record on treating sex offenders.
