‘State cannot afford another Eircom fiasco’

FINE GAEL leader Enda Kenny last night warned the Government not to repeat the Eircom fiasco with a flawed recapitalisation of Irish banks.

Speaking at the opening of his party’s conference in Wexford, Mr Kenny also demanded mortgage lenders should impose a six month moratorium on foreclosures hanging over householders’ heads.

He told the Government to put the national interest first when cutting a deal to rescue the banking sector.
