Lucky Lotto winner scoops €250,000

The lucky winner of Saturday’s Lotto Plus 2 draw bought the ticket in the Flying Enterprise shop at the South Gate Bridge.

The winning numbers were 1, 18, 20, 21, 31, 38 and the bonus number was 39. There was only one winner and the prize has yet to be claimed.

Flying Enterprise owner Finbarr O’Shea said there is a lot of speculation about who the winner may be. “It could be a local but we have a huge footfall and passing trade,” he said.

€It is the second major Lotto prize sold by the popular city centre shop. About seven years ago they sold a £1m-plus winner, which at the time was the biggest Lotto jackpot in Cork.

However, the Cunningham family eclipsed that amount in July last year when they scooped a record €16m jackpot.

Helen Cunningham, her husband, Paul, and their five children, who lived at Bride Valley View in Farranree, Cork, bought their winning ticket in Twomey’s Centra a few hundred yards from their home.

There was no winner of Saturday’s Lotto jackpot of over €8m and there was one winner of the Lotto Plus 1 draw. Wednesday’s Lotto draw is expected to be close to €10m.
