Harney: PDs must end with dignity or face ridicule

PROGRESSIVE Democrat members will be told to bow out with dignity or face ridicule when they are addressed by former leader Mary Harney at today’s crunch meeting on the party’s future.

The Health Minister admitted last night she will have to reflect on her position in the party if members vote to stay in existence at a ballot taking place in Mullingar.

Ms Harney has pleaded to members to vote in favour of winding up the party. But she said: “If my view does not prevail, I’ll have to reflect on that. I’m not going to make a knee-jerk decision today or tomorrow, I’m not going to be threatening or bully members of the Progressive Democrats.
