CD launched in aid of hospice
Emma died two years ago, just four days after her first birthday.
On her death, Anne and her husband Brian O’Flanagan decided to donate Emma’s organs and because of this, three people now enjoy full lives.
To raise awareness of organ donation, Anne with the help of colleagues at Mary Immaculate College of Education in Limerick and friends, has recorded three songs she used to sing to her toddler.
The CD will be launched at a fundraising concert at the University of Limerick Concert Hall on Saturday week, November 8.
Anne, who lectures at Mary Immaculate College said: “One of the songs on the CD, Voice of an Angel was the song that sent Emma to sleep every night.”
Each CD is presented in a Christmas card which contains an organ donor card to encourage people to consider becoming organ donors.
The project will be launched at a Gift of Life concert at UL Concert Hall which will feature Nóirín Ní Riain, Denis Allen, the Holy Trinity Abbey Choir from Adare, Mary Immaculate Chamber Choir and other special gifts.
All funds raised on the night will go towards establishing this country’s first children’s hospice at Laura Lynn House.
The Emma Gift of Life Christmas Card /CD is available at Tesco stores.
