Householders urged to take water precautions

HUNDREDS of householders in Waterford city have been told to take precautions following confirmation of excess levels of lead in a public water supply.

The warning comes after the city council received the latest round of test results from a targeted programme of water testing. Several hundred older homes close to the city centre are affected.

Advice leaflets were yesterday being sent by the council to the householders living in homes which were built before 1970.
