Double seizure of drugs and cigarettes

GARDAÍ have seized €140,000 worth of cannabis, €3,000 of heroin and 50,000 contraband cigarettes following two operations on the northside of Cork city.

Members of the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit and the Gurranabraher District Drugs Unit swooped on a house at Ascension Heights in Churchfield shortly after 9pm on Tuesday night. A search of the house revealed cannabis resin with a street value of €140,000 and 50,000 contraband cigarettes.

Meanwhile, about 40 minutes later, members of the Gurranabraher District Drugs Unit stopped a car on the Blarney Road. “A search of the vehicle was carried out and €3,000 worth of heroin was discovered,” said Supt Cadogan.

A man in his mid-20s, from the northside of the city, was detained by gardaí.
