Tesco opens ‘eco-store’ in Waterford

RETAIL giant Tesco will open its first Irish “eco-store” today in Tramore, incorporating features aimed at reducing the chain’s carbon footprint and energy usage.

The supermarket, employing 93 people, will be officially opened today at Summerhill in the seaside town and the company hopes it will result in a 45% energy cut compared to conventional shops.

Local TD and minister and Arts Sports and Tourism Minister Martin Cullen will perform the opening with politicians and business leaders also expected to attend.
