Probe call over Adare rezoning

ADARE Community Council is calling on the Minister for the Environment to investigate the decision of elected members of Limerick County Council to rezone more than 120 acres of agricultural land near Adare for housing.

The chairman of the community council, Tony Sexton, said they contacted Minister Gormley after the special meeting of Limerick County Council last Monday at which the rezoning decision was taken.

Councillors voted by 12 votes to three (six abstentions) to a proposal by Cllr John Clifford (FF) to alter the county manager’s local area plan for Adare and rezone agricultural land on two farms on the Limerick side of the village.
