Kerry hotel turns up trumps

Brooklane Hotel, in Kenmare, took the overall Private Ireland experience award, as well as three other awards including the bubbliest bath award.

The roll call included 13 imaginative categories on which guests commented following their stay in a Private Ireland property during the summer.

Results were then independently calculated by the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology Hotel School in advance of the award ceremony.

Private Ireland chairman Frank Slattery and his wife, Mary, won three awards as proprietors of Carrig Country House, Killorglin, Co Kerry, including service with honours, honours for the host and the enchanted garden award.

Elaine and Henry Reid, of Ross Lake, Co Galway, followed suit when they were awarded honours for dinner and dining experience in the country house category. Private Ireland members focus on service to their guests.
