Eamon Gilmore: €1 billion investment plan unveiled

UNEMPLOYED construction workers should be given a jobs boost through a building programme for schools, social housing and other public infrastructure, the Labour party said yesterday.

A €1 billion investment in construction was part of Labour’s 10-point plan for economic recovery published yesterday.

Labour leader Eamon Gilmore said the National Development Plan, instead of being scaled back as part of Government cutbacks, should be used to get people back to work.
