O’Keeffe promises extra classrooms for 9,000 pupils

DESPITE cuts in public spending, up to 9,000 pupils have been promised new classrooms as part of a school building and refurbishment programme, which is to get under way by the end of the year.

Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe is announcing today details of five new primary schools and the extension or refurbishment of 15 others.

The investment will benefit 4,800 primary and 3,000 post-primary pupils, mainly in Kildare and Meath.
