AIRLINE passengers with heavy bags could save a small fortune thanks to a new company based at Cork Airport.

The Independent Excess Baggage Company (IEBC) has ruffled the feathers of executives at Aer Lingus and Ryanair by offering savings of up to 50% on the cost of transporting baggage.

The specialist freight firm has opened a desk in the airport’s departures area and says it can ship passengers’ bags for a fraction of the costs charged by the major airlines.
