Lead piping that caused water ban can be found nationwide

LEAD pipes that caused the water ban in Galway city can also be found across the country, local authorities admit.

Lead pipes were used widely in homes built before 1970 — and so lead content in water is regularly monitored by local authorities.

Earlier this week, it emerged that householders in parts of Galway city were being advised not to drink tap water as lead levels were four times the acceptable levels.
