Surgeons to reattach man’s severed fingers

SURGEONS were on standby last night to reattach two fingers to a man’s right hand after they were severed in a freak boating accident.

The man lost substantial parts of his right forefinger and middle finger on board a chartered yacht as it tied up at Cape Clear, about 13km off west Cork, around lunchtime yesterday.

It is thought the man’s fingers may have been severed by ropes, or have been caught between the boat and the quayside as it was tied up.
