FG rules out repeat of ‘Tallaght Strategy’

FINE GAEL leader Enda Kenny has ruled out any prospect of a new “Tallaght Strategy”, the name given to the 1987 decision by his party to support the Government’s harsh economic reforms.

Mr Kenny said the Government would get his party’s support only if it implemented long-ignored Fine Gael proposals to rescue the economy.

But while the Government would welcome Fine Gael support, it does not need it to implement policy — in stark difference to the situation that prevailed in 1987.
