Hauliers call off protest over barrier-free M50

HAULIERS have decided to call off their threat of a campaign of “civil disobedience” in protest at the new barrier-free scheme on the M50, which comes into effect this Saturday.

The Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA) said last night it would not take any action for the immediate future following a board meeting yesterday.

The IRHA had warned earlier this week that its members might refuse to pay the toll.
