THE coroner in the Navan school bus tragedy inquest yesterday told families of the five girls killed in the crash he was not allowed to recommend a verdict of corporate manslaughter.

A jury said the teenagers, who died instantly when the Bus Éireann coach they were returning home in overturned outside Navan, Co Meath, in 2005, died of accidental death.

John Lacey, Meath county coroner, revealed the family of one of the survivors asked him why he could not recommend a verdict of manslaughter.
