A DECISION not to activate Co Limerick’s major emergency plan to tackle huge floods will be raised at a meeting at council headquarters today.

It has been called at Limerick County Council headquarters amid concerns that the red-alert plan did not swing into action to deal with the floods that devastated west Limerick, causing millions of euro damage last Friday.

People were left homeless and businesses in the worst affected area — Newcastle West — were forced to close.
