THE first concerted political effort to restore the Cork to Swansea ferry service will begin today.

The mayors of Cork city and county and the mayor of Kerry will hold roundtable talks with high ranking city and county officials from both counties, and with representatives of the South West Regional Authority (SWRA), at Cork County Hall.

They will examine the viability of the ferry link and establish what needs to be done to relaunch a service which delivered about 140,000 tourists to the south-west of Ireland every year.
