PD politician among ‘named and shamed’

A GALWAY County Councillor is among 33 traders named and shamed for breaching consumer laws in a list published by the National Consumer Agency (NCA) yesterday.

PD councillor Thomas Welby, who contested a seat in Galway West in last year’s general election, was fined €300 plus expenses of €1,750 for failing to display prices on grocery products in Gala in the town of Oughterard.

Tesco in the Dundrum Shopping Centre was fined €1,500 plus costs of €2,000 also for failing to display prices. Arch Motors Limited in Galway and Orange Motors Ltd were found to have been engaged in misleading commercial practices by selling or offering for sale used clocked cars.
