UCC quad to host double charity fundraiser
Cork-based charities — the Children’s Leukaemia Association based at the Mercy University Hospital and Multiple Sclerosis Ireland’s Cork branch — will share the proceeds of the summer’s evening concert in the spectacular setting.
Last year’s event raised almost €53,000.
This year’s event, supported by the Irish Examiner, is organised by UCC’s security staff in association with the Garda community policing unit based at Barrack Street.
It will feature performances by The Celtic Divas, with musical director David Munro, backed by the Garda Síochana band and supported by Val Cooke.
The evening will be compered by RTÉ’s Martina Carroll and hosted by Pascal Scott, who stars in Killinaskully.
The Children’s Leukaemia Association develops and maintains services and programmes for children with leukaemia, cancer and other serious blood disorders.
It supports the children and their families during treatment, funds research, provides essential medical equipment and counselling and organises special outings for children and their families.
The Cork branch of MS Ireland supports MS patients and their families in the Cork and Kerry region, and works to raise public awareness of MS.
* The concert will start at 8pm. Tickets priced €40 are available from UCC’s Visitors’ Centre, Tel: 021-4901876, email: experience@ucc.ie or from Pro Musica, Tel: 021 427-1659.
