POLITICAL parties spent millions on the last general election but failed to reveal where most of the money came from.

A report published yesterday by the State’s ethics watchdog said there was a “large gap” between the amount of money the six main parties spent and the donations they disclosed.

“It is not transparent, therefore, how the parties have financed their election campaigns,” said the Standards in Public Office Commission.
