THE referendum outcome was described as “very disappointing” by Irish Farmers Association president Padraig Walshe.

He said that following the assurances from Taoiseach Brian Cowen on the world trade talks 10 days ago, he had led a wholehearted campaign for a yes vote.

“Analysis shows that IFA members strongly voted in favour of the Lisbon Treaty. A poll of more than 3,000 members showed 76% had voted yes.
