Five key government campaign blunders

1. Brian Cowen admitting he had not read all of the treaty:

In a radio interview, Mr Cowen said: “I haven’t read it from cover to cover.” While he stressed that he had played a key role in the negotiations that led to the treaty, and therefore knew “exactly what’s in it”, it didn’t matter. The no campaign had a field day with the admission and many voters were shocked that the Taoiseach would ask them to support a document he had failed to fully read himself.
