THE plug has been pulled on the commissioning of a €1.5 million hospital scanner which has been lying idle for over a year.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) have confirmed one of two specialists appointed in April to operate the CT scanner at Mallow General Hospital in north Cork will not be taking up the post.

The clinical specialist radiographer “had declined to take up the post”, a statement from the HSE said
