The 28,000 IMPACT members working in the health service are to escalate their work-to-rule from Monday — in spite of threats of disciplinary action from the HSE.

Health workers to starve bosses of information in work-to-rule

The union has instructed its health professional members, mainly working in the administrative and therapy grades, to stop reporting to their superiors on administrative functions in protest at the recruitment freeze in the health service.

The union said that action will enable members to focus the dispute onto the HSE at a corporate level, and minimise the effect of the action on patients.
