Claim delay is risking lives

THE Government and the Health Service Executive are putting women’s lives in danger because of their ongoing failure to open gynaecology theatres at Cork University Maternity Hospital, the Dáil has heard.

Cork South Central Labour TD Ciarán Lynch said Cork women would remain on waiting lists because the State was reneging on promised services.

Currently, women are operated on in the adjoining Cork University Hospital, but demands on the general hospital’s theatres restrict gynaecology slots there.
