Kofi: I call on Ireland to vote yes

FORMER UN secretary general Kofi Annan has called on the Irish people to vote yes to the Lisbon Treaty.

At a press conference in Brussels last night , Mr Annan said: “I call on the Irish people to vote Yes for the Lisbon Treaty. We need a strong Europe. I cannot imagine Ireland turning its back on Europe. Ireland has always played a major role in the United Nations, and around the world via its peacekeeping operations and I hope that Ireland will continue with this tradition into the future.”
