THE rail dispute which has crippled transport services could easily be blamed on the intransigence of one man.

After all it was the refusal of the driver in Cork to operate a training run on Thursday morning which has stranded thousands of passengers on platforms in Cork, Dublin — and now the west of the country — over the last 36 hours.

However, pardoning the pun, that man’s action is only the latest in a series of disputes set in train when the company tried to introduce changes to drivers’ duties to include training roles.
