Call to name and shame rip-off shops

CONSUMER watchdogs last night called for rip-off retailers to be named and shamed for charging their Irish customers more than British shoppers.

Both British and Irish retailers here are enjoying an unexpected windfall thanks to the strength of the euro against the pound sterling.

They are selling goods like clothing with two price tags — showing both sterling and euro prices — but the euro value is calculated on an old exchange rate against sterling.
