Thieves preying on the elderly

GARDAÍ have set up extra patrols in west Cork and Kerry in an attempt to catch callous thieves who are preying on the elderly.

A senior Garda spokesman said it believed that a number of recent incidents in the region could be the work of the same gang.

Three men posing as county council workers conned their way into a house owned by a woman in her 80s in Rathmore, Co Kerry, last weekend.
