Public will say yes in referendum, claims Taoiseach

TAOISEACH Brian Cowen has confidently asserted that the public will vote yes to the Lisbon treaty.

Launching Fianna Fáil’s campaign for a yes vote yesterday, Mr Cowen said Ireland had been “transformed” in the 35 years since it joined the European project.

He said one of the great strengths of the union was its commitment to finding ways of improving its work.
